whats your favourite system for magic in final fantasy?

I like materia from VII the best i think
as it gave you the most freedom IMO

I kinda liked the magic system in FF1, where you could get three of four spells for each given level; the fourth is usually one that you won't really need anyway. However, I played it on the GBA remake, which had an actual magic meter, rather than all that "number of uses per day" bullcrap.

i think there were 8 magic levels IIRC

red mage could master black and white up to 4
and the others only their colour magic up to 8

the NES version was ridiculously hard compared to the remake

My favorite *magic* system is the Materia.

However, I prefer a job system, like FF5, X-2, or Tactics.

I prefer IX's...

I really didn't like 3's job system. It was too simple, and nothing carried over. I like doing cross-class min/maxing.

The materia system of FF7 was interesting but eh...

9's was retarded.

It was a cool way to learn skills, but ultimately each character has a set skill loadout. There is virtually zero customization opportunity.

I'm a huge min/maxer, and if I can't do that, I get bored.

I liked the Materia system the best for magic.

I liked the draw system from FFVIII because it let you get any Magic for any character. It also bumped your stats and you could just use up any Magic that is taking up space to open up for more Magic.

I'm guessing that that guy didn't find out that Triple Triad makes getting magic 10x easier.

Job systems are typically my favorite. I really hated 8's system since it actually punished you for using magic.

i stocked up my 99 aura and then realised i lost a huge chunk of health or another stat when i used it
