PostSubject: BioShock-Survivor Mode (No Vita Chambers)   BioShock-Survivor Mode (No Vita Chambers) Icon_minitimeThu Dec 29, 2011 4:26 pm

So I've been playing around on this recently.
Not sure if anybody else did it.

Right now I wouldn't consider it "hard" but tge Splicers are kind of irritating at times.
It gets a little easier once you beat the first Big Daddy. That was so far the hardest part in the game.
But regardless, the Big Daddies on this mode are rapists. The cheats...

If anything, I found the best thing to do is:

-Try to avoid too many battles with Splicers
-Never destroy machines, hack them unless you have to destroy them.
-Try not to buy health too much because there is surprisingly a lot of medpacks I've across.
-Buy Eve.
-Conserve your resources(money/ammo/eve/etc.)
-Save a lot. No matter what.
-Get a lot of Anti-Personal ammo to deal with pesky Splicers.
-Don't fight Big Daddies unless you have to.

I'm currently on Neptune's Bounty.

Now I'm in Acadia.
Made too BD's fight each other for the first time.

The Research Camera must be used as much as possible.

I think I'm about halfway through the game.
It's not that bad, really.

Just the beginning when you don't have too much recourses.
I'm gonna have to go back to Neptune's Bounty to save the last Little Sister there.

Do you have to set up extremely intricate traps to fight the Big Daddies?

To be honest.
You have to have everything planned out.
You can't just go in with your must powerful weapons.

The best thing to do is to set up a plan/trap to beat the Big Daddies.
But like I mentioned, it's best not to fight them immediately unless you really have to.

Some of them don't have to be that thought out though.
Sometimes I like getting away with the Mines + Explosive barrels trick.
That won't kill them immediately(depending on the number of explosives).

I don't have the crossbow yet, but once you get it you can do the very simple "Trick the Big Daddy into running through the electric wire" trick. This is the most simple and cheapest way to kill a Big Daddy.

That game sounds awful. Or is this about your terrible gaming skills again. I mean any game where there is no way to fight things (unless they are deliberately undefeatable and your supposed to run away) is a terrible game mechanic. A skilled player should be able to do whatever he likes with a game.

Bioshock 3 will most likely be a big pile of crap.

Sad

EDIT:

Woot! Got the Natural Camoflauge tonic!

I'm at Fort Frolic now.
Definitely half-way through the game.
This is by far the most creepiest level in the game because there are manniqunes everywhere and you never know which is actually a Splicers setting up a surprise attack.

That and its dark.
But I get the crossbow on this stage so who cares.

Success!

I made it pass Fort Frolic(My least favorite level).
I swear, I had to take desperate measures to beat the last big daddy since I didn't really have much to work with.

So I played with him by taking advantage of the staircase and using the rest of my Heat-Seeking RPG's, Incedniary Bolts, and Electro Bolt. I managed to beat him with just using one health kit.
Completley lucked out.

I played through this level from beginning to end today and it took a lot out of me(health, ammo, and money). Now I'm taking a well deserved break.

Wow, I'm really breezing through this game.
I just killed Andrew Ryan and I'm currently on Olympus Heights.

[SAVED]

This is pretty much the beginning of the end of the game.
I forgot to mention that I'm also collecting all the audio logs and "Power to the People" upgrades along the way. IGN is good for something.

I actually didn't notice that error until your brought it up :/
Anyway, I just finished Olympics Height which was a lot shorter then I remember. But yeah, closing in on the end. If I'm correct, just two more stages left.

I've noticed, Big Daddy fights are a lot easier now due to the tonics and fire power I have. I always forget that I'm on Survivor difficulty because now it feels like normal mode. I mean, if you play like an idiot, it'll be hard. But if you play it smart then the game gets a lot easier as you progress. Again, it was only hard in the beginning.

There were a bunch of parts from previous playthroughs of the game that I thought would be too much difficult seeing that they were tough then. But when I actually get up to them, I surprisingly just breeze through it.

By the way, hacking cheats now. Sometimes it's a pretty straight forward jig, but other times they'll make stupid impossible puzzles that'll make fucking Einstein brain fart.
Especially safes. I just use the auto-hack tool on safes, machine that seems to be too much it because I don't feel like hacking. Never burn your money for a hack.

But I can hack 90% of everything, it's not that hard. Think "Pipe Dream."

I think I can finish this by tomorrow maybe.

Success! I just finished the game.
It feels good watching the ending and seeing all the trophies that I got for beating it on this difficulty, etc. Thank god I saved all the Little Sisters since it was a secret trophy.
Beat the the game from start to finish with 81% of the trophies unlocked.

Well part of it is because I have some experience with the game.
The first time I played the game a couple years back on Normal, I could barley get past Arcadia.
I think it was because I was playing in a careless "guns-a-blazing" style.

But here, I recenty got the game again around Christmas. Started it again like this and just played smart this time around. I only died when I wasn't fully prepared to fight a Big Daddy and in all, I've died maybe 10 times or less.

I guess if you just use common sense and pick the right Plasmids/Tonics and upgrades, and had some experience with how the game plays you can possibly start on Survivor. But I suggest you start on Normal first.

I have played it on Normal, and I did die quite a lot. Can you make a quick list of tonics, plasmids, and general hints to help?

First off, I prefer to save the little sisters because if you save enough, you'll get more out items out of it.
And of course Adam. At the Gatherer's Garden(Little Sister Machine) I only spent Adam on Maximum Health, Maximum Eve, and Tonic slots. To be honest, a lot of the Plasmids/Tonics you can buy from that machine aren't very useful. Tge best ones are usually found through out the world:

Plasmids:

I'll go ahead and list the plasmids that I found the most helpful:

Electrobolt is one of the best Plasmids in the game.
I went the entire game with this plasmid on it's first level. It wasn't until Apollo Square where I leveled it up to Electroblt 3(I skipped 2). As you'd know, it's good for stuning enemies and hacking machines. Only down-side is the fact that it uses too much Eve, which is why increasing max Eve us good for this.

Telekinesis, along side Electrobolt is another great plasmid in the game. It has multiple uses like: Getting items that are out of reach, catching enemy bombs/fireballs and hurling it back, using dead bodies as shields(Sometimes Splicers play dead. So if TK doesn't pick them up they are faking) and removing traps. When you're low on ammo, a good trick is to throw dead bodies at enemies. This will kill them in 1 hit early on and two hit later. Best of all, it uses little no Eve. Only when you hurl something(and it's still a small amount).

Security Bullseye is pretty decent. For one, when you're caught by security cameras, just throw it on an Splicers or Big Daddy and the bots will attack them instead. Or if an enemy is in the sights of a camera you hacked, this will also trigger the alarm against them. You can get some really cheap Big Daddy kills with this(and that's a good thing).

Incinerate isn't the best plasmid, I just had it with me to melt ice to get to other places.
I've only used it offensively a few times in the game. A fun thing to do is to light a Splicers up and once they jump in the water, hit them with Electrobolt.
Not the best plasmid, but it had it's uses.

Enrage is really good. See, for one thing, you want to take as little damage as possible. So just throw this on a Splicers and they'll do your work for you and turn on each other. Only problem is, if they're too close to you, they'll continue coming after you.

Hypnotize Big Daddy is another plasmid that I rarely used, but when I did it was for something with a lot of hostiles. The name explains it all, you control a Big Daddy which is very helpful. But there are draw backs: If you use it on a Big Daddy with a Little Sister the Little Sister will run away( use on a BD without a LS), it uses way too much Eve and if there are no hostiles when the plasmids wear off, the Big Daddy will attack you. Use with caution.

Honorable mention goes to Winter Blast.
It freezes enemies, that's all. But it's best quality is to slow down the flow of machines when you try to hack it. However, it gets best out by Electrobolt in every way possible.
As a stun plasmid, Electrobolt is superior. Plus if you kill a frozen enemy, you can't loot them.
Also, I have tonics that helps me a lot when hacking, so I really don't need Winter Blast at all.

PostSubject: Re: BioShock-Survivor Mode (No Vita Chambers)   BioShock-Survivor Mode (No Vita Chambers) Icon_minitimeSun Jan 01, 2012 8:13 pm

Again, I'll be listing the ones that I found the most helpful
Anyway, there are three tonic tracks:

Physical:

-Eve Link is really good, because sometimes you'll start running scarce on Eve. So everytime you use a medkit, you'll also replenish some of your Eve.

-Eve Saver is wonderful seeing that I enjoy using Electrobolt so I know how much Eve it uses it up. It decreases the amount of Eve used with all plasmids

-Hackers Delight refills your health and Eve everytime you successfully hack something and believe me when I saw this is one of the best combat tonics you can get. Because for one thing, you shouldn't be destroying machines(unless you really have to), the best thing to do is to hack as many as possible and this really helps especially if you got the right hacking tools in the engineering slot.

-Medical Expert increasesthe amount of health you get from medkits and you already get a lot of health from said kit, so once you get this to level three it can fully heal you with one kit.

-Sports Boost helps you move faster with the wrench. I found this useful because Big Daddies are fast as hell, but you probably knew that.

-Now saving the best for last: Natural Camoflauge. This IS the best combat plasmid in the game. It saved my ass in multiple situations in the game. What is it exactly: once you stand idle for a short amount of time, you turn invisible. So if you set a camera off, just use this tactic and wait for the time limit to die out, surprise attack Splicers, or take the time to load up the equipment you want to use with out tge fear of being attacked by an enemy. I love this to say the least...

Engineer: To be honest, the most useful engineer tonics are Speedy Hacker(reduces water flow) and Steady Hacker(Which makes gaming easier). The rest just lowers the amount of overloads and other obstacles during hacks.

Combat:

-Armored Shell reduces the damage you take, so this is very needed.

-Damage Research if(like me) you use the Camera a lot to research enemies. The more quality of the picture you take the more your research level go up. Everytime it upgrades you get some sort of bonus towards that enemy and this tonic boosts it.

-Electric Flesh is something I preferred to use to boost my electricity attacks. That and later on in the game, there will be Splicers with electric based attacks. This reduces electric damage that you received.

-Static Discharge going hand and hand with Electric Flesh boosting it is useful.
When you're hit by an enemy they will be shocked by electricity. I found it useful incase a Splicers attacks you from behind or when a Big Daddy runs up on you for a melee.

-Photographer's Eye increases your research skills with the camera. Simple but very helpful.

If you want more information on these plasmids/tonics and stuff, look at a guide or s BioShock wikia.

I tried this a few years ago, but just couldn't sustain it. I did manage it in Bioshock 2 though, largely due to the increased offensive power Delta has over Jack.

I don't even know how I can jokingly describe the amount of times I've saved so I'll say a lot.
I saved everytime and before I hacked something. Before and after a big battle, whenever I've found something important, etc.

The point is, unless you have Vita-Chambers on, you'll be saving quite a lot.

As for general tips, I've mentionned a handful in like my second post.
All you have to do is use that through out and pace yourself.
Now all that's left to do is plat the game. Two more trophies minus the DLC.

That reminds me, I have to start Resistance 3 on superhuman and finish my Uncharted 3 crushing playthrough.
