Bear in mind that was written by Jim Sterling and his opinions are always terrible but hopefully it's an accurate review.
He likes Ken's Rage so i trust his views on beat em ups. Even if his other reviews are questionable.

Alright, I'm gonna lay down the law with this game and tell you my opinion in numbered form.
1. Do not buy this game if you're expecting a lengthy game. It's a 4-6 hour game on its main story then factoring in replayability that's another 15-20 hours. It's not like Shadows of the Damned where that was 5 hours but with like no replayability.
2. Every costume is unlockable except for the DLC ones. These make up a good portion of the replayability as I've played the game for almost a full day and still haven't unlocked the rest of them. The other part of the replayability comes in the form of collecting lollipop wrappers, trophies and zombie profiles. You can unlock about half of the zombie profiles on a normal difficulty playthrough, the rest are unlocked by fighting stronger zombies on higher difficulties.
3. This game has hilariously awful dialogue.
4. This game has awesome music themed bosses... well okay 3 of 6 are great, 1 is dull and the last two are okay. Especially, the fifth boss, he is one of the best GM bosses.
5. The gameplay is not particularly deep but it is fun. You unlock combos by buying them with medals and you certainly won't get every one on the first playthrough unless you replay levels before finishing the last boss.
6. The sound of the game is absolutely fantastic. Seriously, you just have to hear the voices and music yourself to love it.
7. There are mini games, some fun, some dumb.
8. Funk

Finished it today on my third session. Hardly unlocked any costumes, though. What do you need to do to unlock the costumes and the Good Ending? I got the Bad, but I can't figure out why. Is it because I didn't save all the students?

Not complaining or anything but after playing it a bit I still can't for the life of me figure out why WB decided to publish this game.

What do you mean by that?

Its because you lack the will of a warrior.

I mean I don't understand who at Warner Bros. saw this game that's 40% jokes that are funny because they're bad, 40% fanservice and 20% fun but not particularly deep combat and decided it would be a good thing to spend money on. I'm happy that it happened but I just don't expect that sort of thing from western companies.

I never thought I'd hear a zombie yell "Let me fuck your dad!".

Now that's good zombie killing music.
Also never thought I'd see a hippy zombie. Not a zombie hippy, but a hippy zombie.

Wait til you see the next boss, it gets even better. My favorite zombie is the 5th one personally, he oozes style while still being crazy.

Apart from the boss the farm stage wasn't very good though. Too many gimmick areas and not enough basic action.

Yeah, the farm stage is the worst stage in the game because of that... the next one makes up for it. I don't know if you'll like Stage 5 because it is long, really long.

I hate the farm stage, except for the part where you get to kill 40 zombies at once.

I'm having more fun with the game now that I'm just replaying it and buying everything. Although there's seems to be no way to restore the default music. It always uses my playlist.

Just remove the tracks on your playlist and it restores it. Yes, you have to replace it every time and it's kind of annoying.

If I remove all the tracks there's no music at all.

This game has some great music. If "To The Rotten World" had been from a 16-bit game it would be regarded as a classic now.

Just ranked 26 on Prologue Time Attack. So this is what it feels like to do well...
Also, that song is great.
