Saw it today, was a bit disappointed. Never read the book, nor seen the TV movie, but have heard several people comment on how scary it is and how interesting the twist at the end was. It was creepy in places, but all the scares felt cheap and obvious - you knew when they were coming. Daniel Radcliffe didn't have much to do besides look nervous and swallow a lot, but he was a servicable lead, even if it was hard to believe he was the twenty five year old father of a four year old.

The "twist" at the end was no such thing either. Rather, it made everything that gone before seem utterly pointless.

The film's had mixed reviews, but I can't help but feel it was a wasted oppurtunity. Yes, it was a bit crap.

o_o Omg, I was just watching that last night. Sadly I didn't get to finish as it was getting dark and I was afraid the horror movie would make me paranoid enough to not have a good sleep. XD

I quite liked it. A well executed if rather basic ghost/haunted house story. It was a bit obvious, but I think that's just because we know so much about how horror is done on film now.

As an audience member, when there is a deep focus shot with the actor framed to the extreme left or right, I know damn well something ghostly is going to happen on the other side of the frame in the background. Likewise, when there's a tracking shot following an actor walking from the right to left with out of focus stuff passing between the actor and camera, I know a ghost is going to be in there somewhere. After decades of horror films you just know these devices even if you don't know you know them and The Woman in Black uses them constantly.

I liked the end too.

I liked it too, wasn't too scary, but the screams of the woman in black actually did give me the chills, it was weird.. it really got me some sort of uneasy chill down my spine..
