| Now that was a half explained film. I think it was originally a series or something, and you can really tell. The story was really crammed in there and a lot of it seemed to be missing. | |

| Yeah, it's that one. But that seems to be only half of it. There was some disease or something, and I assume it was killing a lot of people. They never say that, they just call it the industrial disease and it's not explained beyond that. But the cure they came with for it cause sterility.
Somehow people didn't notice this, and the government was able to just make women think they were pregnant by lacing their food with something and then implanting a cloned embryo in them when they came for a check up. How all this got set up to begin with is a fucking mystery. There's this massive gap in the story between the bit when things were normal and the bit where the film takes place.
Also, while all this was going on the whole human race was wiped out apart from this one city, and now they have a giant wall around it to proect them from the outside world, but all that's going on out there is a bunch of trees are growing. I didn't get it. | |

| I don't think they were the last humans alive. This is open to interpretation obviously but the government must have had a reason to lock everyone up inside the city. The way I see it either they didn't want the people to see the 'freedom' in nature OR there was something outside that they wanted to seperate the people from. I don't believe there was any disease outside the walls, possibly just people they couldn't control. | |

| I'm still completely puzzled as to to how things went from the way they are now to the way they are in the film seemingly over night. I know 400 years has passed, but they talk about it as if the new government and shit was established immediately. | |

| I don't think it was ever really established, unless there's something in the series about it. From what I gathered the 'current' rulers are the scientists who originally created the disease cure. Presumably they used it, as well as the cloning, as leverage to gain a position of power. | |
